BCH Big Print Competition

The annual Belfast City Hospital Big Print Competition is here!

Every summer BPIC is fortunate to be able to host an exhibition of members' work in the foyer of the Tower Block at Belfast City Hospital - for a two-week period.

This evening we will select the images to be displayed.

Mount size is 50x40cm - as supplied by the Club.  This is important as the mounts must fit the existing frames properly.  Actual print size to fit the aperture of the Club-supplied mounts is A3 or 29.7 x 42.0cm (11.69 x 16.53 inches).

You can enter as many prints as you like, colour or mono, but a maximum of two images per member will be chosen to be a part of the exhibition.  A total of 24 images will be on display. Actual dates for this year's exhibition have yet to be confirmed.

Deadline for submission of mounted prints is Thursday 22 March 2018 at Morton.  There is no time deadline as such on the night - there will be an opportunity to purchase mounts and backing boards on the night and, if needed, assistance will be available to help mount images.

Critique night - Round 5

images.jpeg

Round 5 - the final round of the NIPA Inter Club Competition - is fast-approaching.

This will be a themed round, the theme being 'Food'.

This evening is the opportunity for you to get constructive feedback on any images that you are considering entering.  You can bring along prints on the night, or bring your images on a pen stick.  Even better - send them a few days before the night to the usual upload@bpicni.com address - ensuring that you make it clear in your covering email that these are for critique only and are not early entries for the competition.

With this theme presenting possibly a greater challenge than usual for some, this evening we will also be showing some examples of food photography and hopefully offering some inspiration!

Workflows

This week we will have several  members demonstrating their own preferred processing workflows - what they do with a raw image, how they do it, what software/plug-ins they use.

We will be using Lightroom, Photoshop & Nik Efex.

This should be a lively and interactive session, as there are so many ways to process an image - and audience participation is mandatory!
