Club Outing.
Titanic Quarter – open to current and prospective members. Meeting at “Big Fish” 7.30pm.

12/09/18

Opening Night at Morton Community Centre – Welcome from Club Chair and Committee. Display of work from club membership. Help desks and information on a range of photography genres including portraiture, landscape, macro, wildlife and travel.

19/09/19

Open Forum Evening. An opportunity for new members to bring their images for critique. Demos of board mounting, resizing of images for print and projection.

26/09/19

Members as Models – an icebreaker of an evening and a chance to use your camera in a studio setup with club members offering advice and help as well as acting as models for the evening.

NIPA Interclub Competition Round 1 selection evening – Open Themed round with Judith Kimber selecting BPIC’s images for this round. Selections also contribute to the club’s Photographer of the Year competition.

10/10/19

Guest Speaker – Judy Boyle (FRPS, FIPF EFIAP /b) Photographer and Fotospeed Lecturer, Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal winner in Photography competitions worldwide.

17/10/19

Fuji Night – A representative from Fujifilm will present Fuji’s range of cameras and kit and give us all an opportunity to try them out.

23/10/19 (Wednesday)

BPIC hosts NIPA’s Interclub Competition ROUND 1 Adjudication in Morton Community Centre. The images submitted for Round 1 of the Interclub Competition will be displayed. The judges who scored the images for the competition will give their thoughts on images.

24/10/19 (Thursday)

Guest Speaker - Leslie Hanthorne will talk about his photography including his stunning images of the Mourne Mountains.

NIPA Interclub Competition Round 2 selection evening - Images will be on the genre of landscape. Darren Brown will be our judge for this round. Selections also contribute to the club’s Photographer of the Year competition.


November

07/11/19

Off Camera Flash by Dummies – a taster session looking at the key principles of lighting a subject using flash not attached to your camera. This is the first evening of our portraiture month.

GUEST SPEAKER and Workshop – Nigel Fleming and studio lighting demonstrations.

Studio Night – Professional models are hired to give you the opportunity to put what you have learned from the previous weeks.

28/11/19

Guest Speaker – Damian McDonald will take us through how he processes portrait images bringing to a close our portraiture themed month. Damian will demo using the Affinity Photo.

Guest Speaker - Gavin Millar is a highly successful local commercial and concept photographer. Ranging from fashion to the controversial Gavin will take us on his photography journey.

NIPA Interclub Competition Round 3 selection evening – An open themed round with Bob Given judging. Selections also contribute to the club’s Photographer of the Year competition.

Christmas Outing and Meal – always a club favourite with a dander round the Christmas Market with a camera phone photography competition along the way.

Big Print Competition – Members get the chance to show off their best work in large print format. Judged by the membership itself, this is a regular and popular BPIC event.

1) Prints only, colour or mono. No limit to number of individual entries 
2) Must be mounted, using a 50x40cm mount. This is to fit our exhibition frames. 
3) Image size is up to you, within the mount constraint. Please note mounts purchased from BPIC have an aperture for an A3 print.
4) All entries must have a title and authors name 
5) All entrants must upload a pdi of their entry.

Open Forum Evening – An opportunity for members to present their work or panels they are working on. Short sessions on a variety of subjects such as what judges are looking for in an image. Topics for discussion will be up to the membership to decide.

NIPA Interclub Competition Round 4 selection evening – On the theme of Transport with Colin Ross judging. Selections also contribute to the club’s Photographer of the Year competition.

Guest Speaker – Alison McDonnell, MFA in Photography, has exhibited her work all across Ireland and the UK. Her recent work “Transpose” is a collection of environmental portraits of transgender people from around the country. Alison’s work is an appreciation of the work of transgender activists and their allies in Ireland.


February

Mentoring Exhibition – This is the culmination of the club’s Mentoring Programme whereby beginners are paired with more experienced members. This is an evening dedicated to beginners and novices exhibiting their work and showing the progress they have made.

Guest Speaker - Judith Kimber has rightfully gained a great reputation in the field of AV presentations – combining a series of images with a musical soundtrack to create magical narratives that can really wow an audience.

NIPA Interclub Competition Round 5 selection evening – An open themed round with our very own Billy Leahy making the selections. Selections also contribute to the club’s Photographer of the Year competition.

The club will be attending NIPA’s Adjudication evening for Round 4 of the Interclub Competition. This will be hosted by Christian Brothers Camera Club at St Malachy’s College Old Boys Association. This is an opportunity to see the work of other camera clubs and hear from the judges who appraised all the images submitted for the competition.


March

Panel Exhibition – BPIC encourages all its members to seek recognition from photographic bodies such as the Irish Photographic Federation, the Royal Photographic Society and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. This evening gives members a chance to display collections of their images with a view to encouraging striving for “Distinctions”.

12/03/20

Photographer of The Year Competition. The club runs a year long competition for Novice and Advanced members to see who will be the Photographer of The Year in each category. This evening welcomes Projected Digital Images on any theme as we near the culmination of this year’s competition. Judge to be confirmed.

19/03/20

Our very own Kate Thompson will introduce you to the world of filters and how to create wonderful images that take us beyond what the eye sees. The evening may also involve a special guest speaker that is to be confirmed.

Images for Print Challenge Exhibition – In preparation for the following week’s Print Challenge with Westcourt Camera Club we will be exhibiting the images selected to be involved. Judge to be confirmed.

Photographer of The Year Novice Final – Novice members are invited to submit open themed prints in the finale of this year’s POTY competition for Novice members. The judge will be one of our own experienced judges.

Outings Competition – This annual competition for Novice members welcomes printed and Projected Digital Images that were taken on the club’s outing throughout the season. The competition will be judged by one of own experienced judges.
